Video: How To Easily Disarm A Club Or Baseball Bat
Working security in a gang-infested area of New Mexico one time, I witnessed a beat-down where a guy was being stomped on by a group of 18th Streeters.
Poor guy didn’t have a chance.
His friends couldn’t even help him because the gangbangers kept them away in “riot police style” with baseball bats.
Too bad they didn’t know this…

Awesome manuever, Jeff. That could be very useful one day. It also doesn’t seem difficult to execute either.
this is simple but effective. thank you.
Nice technique. I would like to see it at some level of speed and what about the footwork?
I wish I could have gotten this kind of training 20 years ago!
this is not the way someone would attack you with a baseballe bat.
they would be swinging it both hands on one end that was a nothing manuever !!!
thought this stuff was bogus !!!!
Hi Jeff,
I thought like Rich (comment 5) at first sight – nobody attacks like this… Then I remembered some of the stuff I have taught to one of my students who is a police officer… I have shown him how to use a baton to push people away at stomach or chest height… JUST like the attack you are showing…
Knowledge is power and this is a good technique even if it is not one you are going to be using ten times a week
All the best.
Robert.
For some odd reason I can’t complete the order for the free DVD.
If you could provide me with a mailing address, I would be more than happy to buy your products and start training with you. Here is my e-mail address: shotguna45@hotmail.com Phone # 908-797-4960.
thanks
Rick
P.S. I have the same problem when trying to order GNC products from the website
The challenge I see with this technique is that you’re assuming the perp is going to just stand there once you stick your arm between him and the baton. Theres nothing to stop him from pulling the baton back and cracking you with it. Remember he has to defend himself too now that you’re offering a threat. I believe a better strategy would be to control the weapon first then attack and finally disarm.
Everybody’s a critic aren’t y’all??? As the man stated this is just ONE of the ways of defending yourself in That senario. That’s the purpose of contiuous training. DUH!!! Preperation for as many senarios as possible. good simple quick and effective move.
Love the move Jeff, but as you have stated before it is only one move not the todal self defence packsge. Keep up the good work and good luck with the kids. You may well need alot more self defence moves to survive the sleep over. Jerrygottago
Looks like a good move Jeff ,if the guy with the bat is high on reefer.I gotta think if the assailant is full of adrenaline, and he has something like a tire iron, he would be much more difficult to disarm.Could you send out some techniques of defense against a tire iron? – Norm
Nice move Jeff, thanks for the tip. However, I think Rich (comment #5) has a point too. Could you show ( possibly in a future video) how to defend yourself ( and maybe disarm) if the guy is swinging the bat in your direction?
All the best,
Sam
I think you might be able to go under him and charge your shoulder and body into him if you can do it fast enough! One move we learned in Ninjitsu was to duck down, and put your head on the other side of his leg,an your shoulder on the other side ,and bring him down. I guess he can still try to hit down on you,but do it fast and maybe you will be okay. Carl
Im open to any comments for correction, and advice thank you all!
Did anybody else see video of riot police attacking peaceful protesters at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFYoyv2Gm1I
Sir; what is your best baton removing technique when they come holding it in only one hand? thanks and God bless…
This really requires timing Ralph. The best defense is to hit them as soon as you see they have a bat, BEFORE they get a chance to swing it!
Sir;
are you still in new mexico? if so, where, as my wife and I go to mescalero on the third sunday of every month. if you are close, we would stop by. thanks and God bless…
Thanks! That was pretty slick..
Pretty cool technique. However, be prepared…. I have found that unless you are fighting a tomatoe can, the bat does not miraculously end up in your hand….You end up in a one handed tug of war over the bat.
